LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) has completed the installation of new restrooms at the Sycamore Grove Ranger Station Picnic Area. This addition is expected to enhance the park’s functionality for programs, rentals, and visitors.

The new restrooms are located in the Veterans Park section of Sycamore Grove Park near the outdoor classroom and ranger station where LARPD hosts the popular Summer Nature Camp among many other year-round programs, making them a convenient resource for the park’s educational and recreational offerings. Recreation Supervisor Joseph Benjamin outlined the potential benefits the restrooms will bring to the park’s programs and visitors.

“These restrooms will be an added convenience for the participants in our environmental education programs, which serve over 3,300 people annually,” said Benjamin. “They’ll also support the many ranger-led weekend programs that take place throughout the year.”

The project involved the installation of two unisex vault toilets, a practical and environmentally friendly solution for the park’s needs. These facilities are designed to be low maintenance while providing a convenient and accessible restroom option for visitors.

Small group rentals, including birthday parties, scout groups, and school events, are also expected to benefit. Benjamin noted that these rentals currently host several hundred visitors per year, and he expects that number to grow with the new restrooms making the space more appealing to future groups.

"The new restrooms give us opportunities to explore ideas and programs that weren’t realistic before," Benjamin said. "Making the picnic area at the ranger station an even more appealing destination for education, recreation, and special events."
