Patterson Ranch Trail

Patterson Ranch Trail
The Patterson Ranch Trail begins off the connector trail southwest of the Arroyo Road Parking Lot at Sycamore Grove Park just across the Edward R. Campbell Bridge. It reconnects with Sycamore Grove Park at the west gate, just south of the Valley View Loop. Along its route, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Tri-Valley, Brushy Peak, Mount Diablo, Lake Del Valle, and Cresta Blanca.
Directions (with pictures) to Patterson Ranch Trail from Arroyo and Wetmore Entrances.
Safety Reminders:
- Closing time: Patterson Ranch Trail closes one hour before park closing time.
- Bikes and equestrians are not permitted: Due to the narrow, single-track sections of the trail where there is limited space to safely pass. Mixed uses on this trail creates potential hazards for all users.
- Dogs must remain on leash at all times: Cattle are grazing in the area, and unleashed dogs can pose safety risks for hikers, dogs, and cattle.
These rules help keep everyone—hikers, animals, and the community—safe, just like the rest of Sycamore Grove Park. We appreciate your help in keeping the trail safe for everyone to enjoy!

From Wetmore Road Entrance (approx. 2.5- 3 hrs roundtrip):

Follow Winery Loop Trail to Wagon Loop to Valley View Loop trail.

From the Valley View Loop trail, make a 180 degree turn from the bench facing the valley and walk along the single-track trail towards the white Patterson Ranch trail sign:

Open the gate and continue following the narrow trail as it winds upwards for about one mile to reach another amazing valley view!
From the Arroyo parking lot (1.5-2 hrs round trip):

Turn left (south) on the paved path towards the bridge that crosses the Arroyo

Bear to the left after you cross the bridge and follow the single track connector trail until you reach a paved road. Cross the road to this sign and walk up the trail on the right.
