Mocho Park Playground Reopens with New Equipment
Livermore, CA – July 2025 — The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) has officially reopened the playground at Mocho Park following a full equipment replacement as part of the District’s ongoing Playground Replacement Program.
Launched to address deferred maintenance and aging infrastructure, the Playground Replacement Program aims to upgrade two parks per year using LARPD’s facility maintenance reserve fund. Each project is budgeted at approximately $250,000 and focuses on replacing outdated play structures with modern, safer equipment designed to serve local families for decades to come.
“The new Mocho Park playground is a great example of our commitment to maintaining safe, high-quality spaces for families across Livermore,” said Mathew Fuzie, LARPD General Manager. “This program allows us to invest in our community while being responsible with public resources.”
Mocho Park is the fourth playground completed under the program, following upgrades at Jack Williams, Bill Clark, and Ida Holm Parks in 2023. Construction is currently underway at Tex Spruiell Park, with the new playground expected to open in early August.
LARPD has identified an additional 18 playgrounds nearing the end of their useful life and will continue replacements as funding allows.
