LARPD marked the start of construction with a community groundbreaking at Sunken Gardens Park, where Board members, City of Livermore staff, and local partners gathered to celebrate this milestone. Excitement was high as the community got a first look at what will soon become a vibrant new recreation hub.

“This project has been a true community effort,” said Mat Fuzie, LARPD General manager. “We’re excited to be moving forward and are looking forward to welcoming riders of all ages when it opens.”

The new facility will feature a professionally designed concrete pump track, ADA-accessible pathways, improved drainage systems, synthetic turf, and other site upgrades to make the space safer, more accessible, and more inviting for families. Paired with the existing skate park, it will create an energetic and inclusive destination for youth and adults alike.

The project—funded in part through City of Livermore AB1600 park in-lieu fees—is being constructed by Newton Construction & Management through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program. The total project cost is approximately $1.9 million.

Construction is expected to take four to six months, with the new pump track slated to open to the public in spring 2026.
