Meet Oreo: Livermore's 2025 Ambassadog
2025 Livermore Ambassadog
Following in the steps of Boomer Bowers, Oreo was announced by the Valley Humane Society and Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) as the 2025 Ambassadog for Livermore, CA. Oreo's role symbolizes their commitment to fostering a dog-friendly community.

Oreo: A Beloved Siberian Husky with a Big Personality
Oreo is a lively and affectionate Siberian Husky who became a cherished part of her family during the pandemic. Born on May 15, 2020, in North Las Vegas, NV, she arrived at a time when her family needed her most, bringing joy and companionship after the loss of their beloved pet. With their two adult sons home during lockdown, the family felt it was the perfect moment to welcome a new furry member. True to her sweet nature, Oreo was given a name that matched her dessert-themed siblings, Churro and Smores.
Personality & Quirks
Oreo is full of personality—often silly, always sweet, and incredibly clever. She has a special way of capturing attention by resting her head on a person’s leg, chair, or even the table, knowing full well that humans find it irresistible. While she’s energetic and athletic, she also enjoys lounging like a true princess, often propping pillows in oddly human-like ways.
Her quirks include a dramatic howl whenever the landline rings, as if it’s piercing her very soul. She’s also known for incredible bouts of "the zoomies," racing around at top speed and leaping over anything in her path. In agility training, she sometimes goes "full Oreo," improvising her own creative version of the course and adding obstacles that were never part of the plan.
Favorite Activities & Treats
Oreo thrives on activity and enjoys her daily walks, agility training, and car rides—especially when they lead to the pet store for a little adventure. She loves her toy collection, carefully selecting just the right one from her basket when the mood strikes. A true foodie, she’s always eager to learn new tricks when treats are involved, with broth bones, Trader Joe’s peanut butter dog biscuits, and duck jerky ranking among her favorites.
Her Role in the Family
While Oreo may not have an official "job," she excels at being the family's daily source of joy and entertainment. She knows exactly when to be sweet and comforting and isn’t shy about directing her humans when she thinks they need a nudge in the right direction. More than anything, she ensures that her family stays active and engaged, with plenty of exercise and laughter along the way.
Community Presence & Spotlight Moments
Oreo is a bit of a celebrity at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where she occasionally attends virtual meetings from her owner’s home office and even makes appearances at offsite events. She has also been featured in some of LLNL’s family events, much to the delight of her human colleagues.
Her true moment in the spotlight, however, is in agility training. She’s quite skilled but sometimes can’t resist putting her own spin on the course—often climbing to the highest obstacles and striking a pose, as if waiting for the paparazzi.
Adventures & Exploration
Oreo is an avid explorer, frequenting local parks in Livermore, especially the trails along the quarry near Alden Lane and the expansive Sycamore Grove. Her adventurous spirit began early with a road trip from North Las Vegas to Livermore, where she made pit stops at Harris Ranch and other I-5 landmarks. She has since traveled to Palm Springs and explored much of the Tri-Valley.
With her boundless energy, loving nature, and larger-than-life personality, Oreo has brought endless joy to her family and everyone who meets her. Whether she’s zooming through an agility course, striking a regal pose, or simply resting her head on a lap for attention, she is truly a one-of-a-kind companion.
