Memorial Bench Program

Memorial & Commemorative Benches
Honoring a loved one with a memorial bench is a meaningful way to celebrate their legacy in Livermore’s parks and open spaces. The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) and the LARPD Foundation offer the opportunity to dedicate a bench with a personalized plaque in a designated park location.
Memorial Bench Details
A memorial bench includes an engraved plaque and provides a lasting tribute in a community park or open space. The one-time fee for a bench is $5,000, which covers installation and maintenance.
- Plaque wording is subject to approval by the General Manager.
- Bench styles and costs may be subject to change over time.
Installation & Recognition
Memorial benches are installed at designated locations in Livermore parks. Donors may be present at the installation if coordinated in advance with Parks and Open Space staff.
- Non-Open Space parks: Installations typically occur Monday–Friday, 8 AM–11 AM.
- Open Space parks: Installation times are more flexible and can be scheduled based on staff availability.
- All installations are subject to weather and staffing conditions.
For recognition, memorial plaques with approved wording are attached to the bench.
Memorial Bench Request Form
Please complete the form below to begin the process of your memorial bench. You will be contacted by a LARPD staff member with next steps.
Naming a Park or Facility
For those interested in naming a park or facility in honor of a loved one, LARPD’s policy requires that the individual must have been deceased for at least five years before their name can be considered.
To submit a naming request, send a letter or email to the General Manager, including:
- Background information about the individual.
- The proposed location (park, sports field, playground, etc.).
- Reasons for the naming request and the significance of their contributions.
Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
