Sycamore Grove FAQ

Is there a parking fee? 

Yes; both parking lots have a daily parking fee of $5 per vehicle.  Parking fee applies 365 days a year.

Are annual parking passes available?

Can I use my East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD)pass? 

No, Sycamore Grove is a Livermore Area Recreation and Park District park and does not receive any annual pass revenue from EBRPD.

Can I bring my dog? 

Yes, dogs are welcome on all trails.

Is my dog allowed off the leash? 

No, all pets must remain on a leash at all times.

Are there restrooms? 

Yes, restrooms are available at both parking lots

Is there a printed park/trails map? 

A large map of the park is posted at entrances to Sycamore Grove Park. A print version of the map can be viewed, downloaded here:

What time does the park open? 

7:00am

Can I be in the park before the gates open? 

No. Persons entering the park before 7a.m. are subject to citation.

What time does the park close? 

The park closes at approximately sunset. Sunset time changes throughout the year. Current closing time is posted at park entrances.

If I don’t park in the parking lot, can I be in the park after closing time? 

No, unauthorized people in the park after the posted closing time are subject to citation regardless of having a vehicle in the parking lot.

Which trails are bikes allowed on? 

Bikes are allowed on all trails except certain single track trails and trails through the Nature Area. Please reference the trail legend on the map of Sycamore Grove.

Which trails are wheelchair accessible? 

A paved 2.5-mile trail runs through Sycamore Grove Park. It is 8 feet wide and is accessible to most wheelchair users. The native garden near the Wetmore Road entrance is ADA accessible.

Are there picnic tables? 

Yes, there are picnic areas near both entrances.

Can I bring my own barbecue grill? 

We do not currently allow use of personal barbecue grills. We are considering allowing table-top grill use in certain areas.  Please contact us at 925-960-2400 for current regulations.

Can I reserve a picnic area? 

Yes, we have a reservable picnic area available for use by permit only. It is suitable for groups of up to 70 people. A permit for beer or wine is allowed for an additional fee.

We do not allow picnic areas in the main park to be reserved but encourage large groups (15 or more people) to request a free permit to ensure facilities are prepared.  Alcohol is not allowed in picnic areas in the main park.

Is camping allowed? 

No. The nearest camping is at East Bay Regional Park District’s Lake Del Valle. (LARPD’s only camping facility is Camp Shelly in South Lake Tahoe.)
