Livermore, CA – August 2025 — The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) is excited to announce the completion and reopening of the playground at Tex Spruiell Park, the latest project in the District’s ongoing Playground Replacement Program.

The project included a full replacement of the park’s aging playground equipment, bringing in modern, safer, and more accessible features for local families. The Playground Replacement Program was launched to address deferred maintenance throughout the District and aims to upgrade two neighborhood playgrounds each year using funds from LARPD’s facility maintenance reserve.

“This program helps us tackle much-needed upgrades while being good stewards of public funds,” said LARPD General Manager Mathew Fuzie. “We’re proud to keep investing in neighborhood parks where families gather and play.”

Tex Spruiell is the fifth playground completed under the program, following recent upgrades at Mocho, Jack Williams, Bill Clark, and Ida Holm Parks. Looking ahead, El Padro Park is expected to be the next playground replacement site in 2026, as the District continues to address aging infrastructure across its system.

LARPD has identified 18 additional playgrounds nearing the end of their useful life and plans to continue replacements as funding allows.
