PARK HISTORY

This 14-acre park was dedicated in 2002 and was named after William (Bill) J. Payne, a former Livermore Area Recreation and Park District employee for 28 years who served as General Manager for 25 of those years.

The park was previously used for agricultural purposes and now features baseball/softball fields, a multi-use grass sports field, and a BMX course.

In 2024, the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) completed major renovations at William Payne Sports Park to improve the fields for youth athletes. Upgrades included new sod, an advanced irrigation system, and the installation of portable mounds and home plates. Field 1 now accommodates 46/60 and 50/70 leagues, while Field 2 supports 50/70 and 60/90 leagues. These improvements enhance flexibility and ensure the fields remain in excellent condition, reflecting LARPD's commitment to maintaining high-quality recreational facilities.

This park is currently utilized for District programming and rental use.
